LHDC invites you to AN EVENING IN PARIS

Our next dance is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Lake Harriet United Methodist Church, 4901 Chowen Avenue South, Minneapolis.  Festivities begin at 6:30.

A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE

A few of the themes our outstanding dance committees (meaning you, the members) have presented in recent years:  April Showers, Pink, Gardening, A Chinese New Year, Saint Urho, Egypt, Tuscany, and Bermuda.  This year we have celebrated Back To School, Bountiful Harvest, Candy Land, Be Mine! and A Birthday Celebration for Dr. Seuss!

This poem by Mary Olberding was a tribute To You Know Who:

Oh the dances you can dance

If only you try

If you try you can dance

A quaint butterfly.

And you don’t have to stop

You can dance with a hop

Hop Hop very fast Hop

Vigorous Hop and do the Polish Hop.

You can dance the polka

You can dance the samba

You can dance a long time

Doing the polka and samba.

Dance

Dance a mambo

Dance a meringue

Dance a night club two-step

Dance an Argentine tango.

And why is it

The ladies foot always goes back

The foot on the right

You can think about that until Saturday night.

Think of the schottische

Think of the salsa

Think of the waltz

Think of the cha cha.

You can dance the

East Coast Swing and the West Coast Swing

On the polished ballroom floor

Swing, whip, rock step, swing

More and more and more!

Step left and step right

And spin low and spin high

Oh the dances you can think up

If only you try!
