GOTTA DANCE

Newsletter of the Linden Hills Dancing Club

March 2009

New Members

Welcome to our new members, Ann and Barry Wallerstedt sponsored by the Jaakkolas, Tim and Sharon Crimmins sponsored by Badiyans, and Tom and Kellie Hurwitz.  More good news!  Mary and Alan McNutt have sent their application for membership.  Keep up the good work everyone in bringing guests and prospective new members.

Welcome Back

What good news to hear that Art and Dotty Olson are back after her knee surgery last fall.  We will look forward to seeing them at the spring dances!

Correction

It has been brought to our attention that we had some incorrect dance dates.  Please mark your calendars for April 18 and May 16, and you all know that the March date is the 14th as on the invitation.  See you there.

Magazine Article

Fresh off the press is an article in the Lake Minnetonka Magazine about our Linden Hills Dancing Club along with dancers Badiyans, Jaakkolas and Sandgrens.  If you would like to read the article, go to www.lakeminnetonkamag.com and click on Twintown Strutters’ Ball.  If you would like a copy, you will need to email them via the website or you may call (612)548-3180 and the cost is $4 a copy.

Ballots Coming Soon

Watch your email carefully as the ballots for new members to the executive committee will be sent that way this year rather than in your mailbox.  They should be on your computer by about April 15 and are to be returned promptly or by May 1 at the latest.  Thanks for your prompt attention to this so that we can announce the new executive committee members at the May dance.

Another Reminder

For all the new members as well as others who may be wondering about your responsibility as members of LHDC, every couple is to take a turn on a dance committee and be willing to be the chaircouple for that event if necessary.  The real value in this is getting to know others better, share ideas, and make new friends.  The other responsibility at some time in your membership is to accept a position on the executive committee.  It is a three-year term, and there are a number of different things you can choose such as treasurer, secretary, bands, newsletter and even chaircouple none of which takes a lot of time.  There are perhaps 5-6 meetings throughout the dance season and a small amount of time to do your assignment.  It is not a big time commitment, we have a lot of fun, and many hands and good ideas make light work for everyone.  This body keeps the club running with everyone’s input; therefore, if you are voted as one of the couples on the executive committee, please gladly accept the opportunity to help LHDC be the best it can be for all members.  If you have any questions, please ask anyone on the 2008-2009 exec. committee.  It is your club!
