WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS AND GUESTS

We are pleased to welcome a number of guests at the Wild West Dance of May 15th:     Erika and Bryan Vanthof, hosted by the Jaakkola’s;

CONGRATULATIONS TO ERIC  JAAKKOLA

Eric, one of our members and dance instructor, will be inducted into the

International Polka Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 19 at 5PM.  The induction is a part of a three day event at the Lost Isle Ballroom in Carlton, MN.  Questions can be directed to Eric or to chmielewski@frontiernet.net.

 

 

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE FOR NEXT SEASON

At the June 8 Executive Committee meeting, the offices were filled by the new committee.

                        The Chair Couple for next year will be Jack and Patti Marsh Cagle.

                        They will also be writing the newsletter.

Dance Arrangements will be handled by the newest couple, Jeff and Ann Lande.

                        Treasury and Band will be handled by Curt and Betty Gumbrell.

                        Secretary and Historian will be Bill Vogel and Marilyn Budde.

                        The Invitations will continue to be handled by Ray and Nancy Seeger.

Membership and Directory will be handled by Roberts and Gael Horner.

 

 

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ANNUAL MEETING

*   The changes to the constitution were passed unanimously with 30 yes votes.      *   Of the $600 surplus from this year, $500 has been dedicated to the 100th Anniversary Dance.  It is our goal to have sufficient funds in the bank for the planning of that Dance. 

*   Annual dues have been raised $7 to cover increased band costs.  We will accept any contributions dedicated to the 100th Anniversary Dance.

            *  Special thanks were extended

To the outgoing executive couples: Mike Fuerst and Eileen Kellen (membership), John and Carrie Sandgren (treasury), and Myron and Ginny Karki (chair).

To Monica Mohn, Eric Jaakkola and Lloyd Otte, who have been instrumental in bringing new members.

LYNNE’S DANCE NEWS

A very thorough and comprehensive index of dancing-related activities in the Twin Cities is produced by Lynne Schultz.  It is called Lynne’s Dance News and is available in email form each week from LMSdance@gmail.com.  It is well organized and informative.  She can be reached at 952-545-2989.

If you don’t know the magic words, contact another member or a member of the Executive Committee.  Within this section, you’ll find the club’s constitution.  The newly amended constitution will be available on-line later this summer.  Meanwhile, we are attaching a copy for your convenience.
